What Kind of Aromatherapy Wax Candles are Best?
![]() |
If you love candles, then you probably have quite a few of them around the house. You should take a look at what kind of candles they are. Many people are still using traditional paraffin wax candles. When it comes to aromatherapy wax candles, paraffin is not the best choice. Many people are not aware that paraffin actually releases carcinogenic toxins into the air. This revelation may turn you off of candle burning. You should know that you don't have to stop burning candles. There are healthy alternatives to paraffin candles.
Soy wax is one of the most popular types of candle wax these days. Soy burns clean and does not release any dangerous elements into the air. They are great quality, they last a long time, and they are safe for the environment. You can find soy based candles sold most anywhere other types of candles are sold. This might be a candle shop or even your local craft store. And of course, you can buy soy wax and make your own candles. All you need is the wax, wicks, a double boiler to melt the wax, and a candle mold.
Another great alternative to paraffin is beeswax. Beeswax is the most expensive candle material but also the highest quality. Beeswax is made by bees. When they consume honey, they make this wax. This is why natural beeswax gives off a sweet honeyed fragrance when burned. Many people prefer this scent and go for unscented beeswax for this reason. Some even say that natural beeswax releases ions into the air that help purify the environment. If you are looking for a top of the line candle, you cannot go wrong with beeswax. You may find that your beeswax candles accumulate powder on the outside. This is normal and means the candle is pure beeswax. The powder can be wiped off easily. Like soy candles, beeswax candles are easy to make.
When shopping for aromatherapy wax candles, beeswax should be your first choice. If you find beeswax too costly, go for soy based candles. Soy candles, as mentioned before, are natural and safe. They last a long time and are a bit cheaper than beeswax. Paraffin candles should be avoided if at all possible. More and more candle companies are offering beeswax and paraffin in hundreds of appealing scents to meet any fragrance preference.
