Tips for Choosing the Right Aromatherapy Skin Care Product

Aromatherapy is quite popular these days. The theory is that certain scents can create certain effects. For example, mint is thought to be invigorating while lavender is calming. Aromatherapy is popular with not only candles but also skin care products. If you are going to use a product on your skin, you might as well get aromatic benefits as well. The most important thing is choosing the right aromatherapy skin care product for your type of skin.

There are five main types of skin. Normal skin is the type we all want. Normal skin is not too dry, not too oily and not overly sensitive. Dry skin, on the other hand, is overly dry and often features scaly, flaky patches and unsightly redness. Oily skin is characterized by a shiny appearance and excess sebum production. This type of skin may be prone to acne. Then there's combination skin. Combination skin is often the most frustrating skin type because you may need two different products for various areas of your face. The T-zone, which is the forehead, nose and chin, is often oily while the rest of the face is dry. Sensitive skin is the fifth skin type which is usually not just dry but susceptible to irritation from factors like weather and harsh products.

The most common type of aromatherapy skin care product is essential oil. You don't want to use essential oil on its own, however. It is important to mix the oil with a carrier. A carrier may be another type of oil such as jojoba, grapeseed, or olive. Jojoba oil is a good cleansing oil for even oily skin. Rather than blending your own products you may want to buy them ready to use. If so, there are some great choices available.

Perhaps the most notable creator of various aromatherapy skin care product choices is Decleor. This company began over twenty years ago and was created by aromatherapy experts. They offer a wide range of products including their Aromesscence Oils. The ylang ylang variety is created for oily and combination skin, while the angelique variety is for dry skin. They also offer oils for skin that is mature and/or lacking in radiance. Their products are a bit expensive, but are also of the highest quality.
